3 Day / 2 Night Liveaboard

This 3 day liveaboard dive and snorkelling adventure is unmatched for experience and value and will show you the very best the Outer Great Barrier Reef has to offer.

There is no doubt that the best way to really experience the Great Barrier Reef is to stay out there for a few days. You get much more time to relax and really enjoy yourself and ultimately more time for diving and snorkelling. It is also much better value than day trips or other liveaboard options. You'll get to participate in up to 11 dives, 9 day and 2 night, or as a snorkeller you'll get to experience a large variety of fantastic outer reef locations.

We have 16 exclusive dive sites on 4 different outer reef locations and we visit a selection of these sites on every trip. These sites have been selected for their variety and quality of both coral and marine life as well as great visibility. We rarely dive the same site more than twice.

Our 3 premium, purpose built, multi million dollar dive vessels provide the ideal way to stay out and experience what the reef has to offer. These vessels are 25 metres (80 feet) in length and feature 14 twin share and 2 double cabins with private amenities for every 2 cabins. The vessels are centrally air-conditioned, light and airy. There are 2 large decks, one for gear and one strictly for sun tanning and relaxing. These vessels are the only purpose built outer reef liveaboards operating in the area.

Departures

Every day except Tuesday.

There are German speaking staff available on Thursday and Sunday departures and Japanese speaking staff available on Wednesday and Saturday departures.

Extras

• The PADI Advanced Course can be conducted in conjunction with this trip for an additional charge of A$90 (A$100 after 01 April 2008)

Important Information For Certified Divers

You will be required to sign a Waiver Release & Indemnity Deed onboard the vessel.

Please Note: Some medical conditions may prevent you diving. You will be required to complete a waiver and medical statement prior to diving. If you would answer 'Yes' to any of the questions below you will need to consult a doctor and acquire a medical certificate stating that you're 'fit to dive' prior to your dive trip.

• Since completing your last dive medical assessment have you suffered any illness or injury that may affect your ability to dive safely?
• Are you currently suffering any illness or injury?
• Are you currently taking any prescription medication other than the contraceptive pill?

Flying After Diving: We recommend that you do not fly until at least midday the day after your dive trip returns. This will give you 24 hours of surface interval after diving.

Cancellation and Refund Policy

You can cancel your Dive trip for any reason at any time up to 48 hours prior to departure and receive a full refund of all money paid to Pro Dive Cairns. There is no refund for any reason after this time. If you have booked through a travel agent cancellation fees may apply.

5 Day Learn To Dive

There is no better place to Learn to Dive than Australia's Great Barrier Reef.

If you are thinking about taking the plunge our 5 day PADI "Open Water" dive course is by far the most popular way to do it. The adventure of learning to dive as well as staying out on the reef for 3 days and 2 nights on one of our premium live aboard vessels is quite unique.

Your course includes 9 dives on some of the best dive sites the Outer Great Barrier Reef has to offer as well as plenty of time to snorkel, relax and really enjoy the reef experience. All this makes this course unmatched for experience and value.

Overview

Your 5 Day PADI Learn to Dive Course is broken down into two components - 2 Days of classroom and pool and training and then a 3 Day 2 night, 9 dive, liveaboard dive trip to some of the best Outer Reef dive sites available.

The first two days of your course are spent at our modern training centre learning the theory and practical skills of scuba diving. At the end of day 2 we recommend the option of attending 'Reef Teach'. 'Reef Teach' is a fun and informative marine biology presentation that will greatly enhance your reef experience. (Additional cost)

The next 3 days and 2 nights are spent living on board one of our premium live aboard dive vessels. You'll have the opportunity to participate in 9 dives on a variety of our 16 exclusive dive sites on the outer Great Barrier Reef. Your first 4 dives will complete your open water certification and then as certified diver you are able to undertake up to 5 more recreational or pleasure dives. One of these dives is a guided night dive! These extra dives will be a highlight of your course and a truly memorable experience.

On the night of your return to Cairns you have the option to join your fellow passengers and the crew for a farewell dinner at a local restaurant.

Important Information

• Some medical conditions will prevent you from diving. Some of the more common conditions are Asthma, Diabetes, Epilepsy and heart or lung conditions. Pregnancy is also a contraindication to diving. Some other medical conditions may also be a problem. If you are unsure about any specific condition please contact us.
• The minimum age to participate in this course is 12. There is no maximum age.
• It is a course requirement that you be able to swim 200 metres and tread water/float for 10 minutes.

Flying After Diving: We recommend that you do not fly for at least 24 hours after diving. This means that the earliest you should fly is 12 pm (midday) on the day after your dive course ends.

All our dive course 'open water' (ocean) training dives are conducted on the outer Great Barrier Reef, where the diving is at it's best. The water temperature ranges from 22 to 29 degrees Celsius and the visibility is usually between 10 and 30 metres. There really is no better or more spectacular place to do your dive course!

Open Water (Learn to Dive) courses in English commence every day except Sunday all year round. These courses are also taught in German and Japanese. The dive course manuals are available in English, German and Japanese as well as a range of other European and Asian languages.

If you're looking to combine diving on the Great Barrier Reef with continuing your dive education we can take you as far as you want to go. We conduct PADI Advanced courses 6 times each week, Rescue Diver courses commence every Sunday and Dive Master courses commence every Friday. Instructor courses are conducted 8 times per year and are taught by our staff Course Director (Instructor Trainer). A large variety of Specialty courses are also available on request.
