From Darwin we head south to the small town of Adelaide River, which played a pivotal role during the Second World War. Visit the Adelaide River War Cemetery and learn of the township's rich history throughout this period and the impact upon Australia. Our next destination is Nitmiluk National Park (Katherine Gorge ) which is world renowned for its beauty and expansive gorge system. We take a relaxing two hour guided cruise along this magnificent waterway with towering rock walls and abundant flora and fauna. Keep a look out for freshwater crocodiles.

We reach the township of Katherine, named by explorer John McDouall Stuart in 1862. Nestled on the banks of the Katherine River this bustling town (third largest in the Northern Territory) showcases the regions rich nature and culture and strong pioneering heritage.

After lunch, we travel to the western side of Nitmiluk National Park to the idyllic Edith Falls. This natural pool lush in vegetation is a beautiful place to swim (seasonal) or relax on the grassy banks. Refreshed we head to Pine Creek for a town tour where you may get 'gold fever' as you learn about this 1870's mining town.

Relax as we drive back to Darwin, arriving at approximately 8:00 - 8:30pm.
